1. Find the file
types.xml lives in your mission's db folder. On Nitrado, open your server, go to the file browser and look under mpmissions, then your map's mission folder (for example dayzOffline.chernarusplus for Chernarus, dayzOffline.enoch for Livonia or dayzOffline.sakhal for Sakhal), then db. On console servers the mission sits inside a dayzps or dayzxb folder.
Download a copy before you change anything, so you can always put the original back.
2. Know what the numbers mean
Every item has its own entry. These are the values you'll change most:
- Nominal: how many of the item the economy tries to keep on the map
- Min: when the count drops below this, the economy starts spawning more
- Lifetime: seconds the item lies untouched on the ground before it despawns
- Restock: seconds before the economy may spawn the item again
- Usage and value: where it spawns (Military, Police, Farm and so on) and which map tiers
3. Make your changes
To make something rarer, lower nominal and min together. To make it more common, raise both. If an item never seems to come back, check its restock and that min isn't set to zero.
Change a handful of items at a time and test them. If you change 300 entries at once and loot goes strange, you won't know which change caused it.
The free Blxckforge Types Editor opens your file in a searchable table, lets you edit many rows at once and flags likely mistakes, such as a lifetime shorter than restock or a min higher than nominal. Your file stays in your browser.
4. Check it, upload it and restart
One missing closing tag or stray character can stop the server loading the file. Run it through a validator before you upload it. Then upload it to the same db folder, replacing the old one, and restart the server. DayZ reads types.xml when it starts.
On the Server and Pro plans, Blxckforge loads types.xml straight from Nitrado and saves it back for you, showing every change first and taking a backup.
