What it works with

`cfgweather.xml` sits in your mission folder and controls DayZ's weather: how cloudy, foggy, rainy and windy it gets, when it snows, and when lightning strikes. Many servers ship with it switched off, so the server uses the built-in weather instead.

What Weather does

  • Switch the file on or off, and choose whether the weather starts fresh after each restart
  • Tune each weather element with sliders and ranges, or start from presets like Mostly clear, Moody and foggy, Stormy or Winter
  • Preview the sky and read what players will notice, in plain English
  • Catch settings that never work, such as rain that needs more cloud than the sky ever has
  • On the Server and Pro plans: load cfgweather.xml from your Nitrado server and save it back with a diff, confirmation and automatic backup

Who it's for

Server owners who want a particular feel: clear skies for PvP, thick fog for tension, or proper winter.

Getting started

Open a file or start from DayZ's default in your browser and download the result, free and no account needed. Loading from and saving to your Nitrado server is part of the Server and Pro plans.

Common questions

I changed the weather but nothing happened.

Check the file is switched on, then restart your server. DayZ reads cfgweather.xml when it starts.

What's free and what's Pro?

Opening, editing, checking and downloading files is free. Loading straight from your Nitrado server and saving back to it, with automatic backups, is part of the Server and Pro plans.

Can I undo a save?

Yes. Each save backs up the previous file. Open Backups, load one and save it again.
