Starter Kits

Dress fresh spawns and fill their pockets on a visual loadout board, with random variety and hotbar keys. Pro saves kits straight to your server.

What it works with

Starter kits (DayZ's spawn gear presets) decide what a fresh spawn wears and carries. Each kit is a small JSON file in your mission folder, listed in `cfggameplay.json`, and DayZ picks from them every time a new character spawns.

What Starter Kits does

  • Dress the survivor on a loadout board: head, face, top, vest, back, belt, legs, feet, gloves and weapons
  • Add several items to a slot for random variety, with a clear chance for each
  • Fill their pockets with bundles of items, set condition and amount in plain words, and give items hotbar keys
  • Run several kits side by side and set how often each one is used
  • On the Server and Pro plans: load every kit from your Nitrado server, pick from your server's own items (modded ones included), and save back to the custom folder and cfggameplay.json with a full change preview and backups

Who it's for

Server owners who want new players to start with something better than DayZ's defaults, or a look that fits their server.

Getting started

Build a kit or open one you already have in your browser and download it, free and no account needed. Loading from and saving to your Nitrado server is part of the Server and Pro plans.

Common questions

My kit isn't showing in game.

Check the kit is listed in cfggameplay.json under PlayerData, that cfggameplay.json is switched on in Nitrado (enableCfgGameplayFile), then restart the server.

Can I use modded items?

Yes. Load from your server and the item list comes from your server's own types.xml. You can also type any class name in the item search.

What's free and what's Pro?

Building, opening, checking and downloading kits is free. Loading from your Nitrado server and saving back to it, with backups, is part of the Server and Pro plans.

Does removing a kit delete the file?

No. Blxckforge takes it out of cfggameplay.json so it's no longer used, and leaves the file on the server.
