What it works with

DayZ speeds up in-game time with two settings: the Server Time Multiplier (serverTimeAcceleration) for all time, and the night multiplier (serverNightTimeAcceleration), which speeds the night up on top of it. Both are in your Nitrado settings. Working out what they mean in real minutes is fiddly maths.

What Day/Night Calculator does

  • Show the real length of a day, a night and a full in-game day for any multipliers
  • Watch the cycle as a live sky, with the sun and moon moving at their real pace
  • Pick a feel (long days, balanced, long dark nights, real time) or type the lengths you want, and get the values to set
  • See how many in-game days fit between your restarts

Who it's for

Server owners setting up a new server, or tuning day and night after player feedback.

Getting started

Works in your browser with no account or file needed. Copy the two values into Nitrado and restart.

Common questions

How do I make nights shorter on my DayZ server?

Raise the night multiplier (serverNightTimeAcceleration). It speeds the night up on top of the main multiplier, so days stay the same length.

What does a Server Time Multiplier of 2 mean?

The in-game clock runs twice as fast as real time, so a full in-game day passes in 12 real hours before any night speed-up.

Do I need to restart after changing the values?

Yes. The server reads both values when it starts, so save them in Nitrado and restart.
